HELP ME PLLLEEAASE!!!

I can't open a saved document and edit it! I can open a new document and
type but it will not let me open a saved document and type...it freezes up.
Then when I go to shut down WORD it says that there's a problem and shuts
down and it never finds a solution. I've run the diagnostics and it says
it's fine. I need this fixed for work and it's a big deal that I can't do
this!! HELP please:{

Are they fully patched up to date?
Which Anti Virus are you using?
