Help me remove an unwanted broken line across my page

J

JD

I pasted an article from Notepad that had a short series of hyphens
separating two paragraphs into a Word XP document.
Now I have a broken line running accross the page. I can't select it, can't
remove it, can only push it farther down the page. I've selected and deleted
the lines before and after, but the broken line just appears at another
space on the page.
I've tried Borders and Shading, to no avail. Please help!

Many thanks to Stefan and Graham. Choosing "None" under Borders and Shading
had been ineffective, but Ctrl+Q after selecting the paragrphs before and
after the offending line did the trick. I am very grateful for your help.

Choosing "None" should work too, assuming that you selected the correct
paragraph as explained in the referenced article.

Also, note that if you select multiple paragraphs with different settings,
you won't be able to identify the current settings via the dialog box, but
you should still be able to click "None" and then click OK to get rid of the
border.
