Hi,

I have a single column that I need to alphabetically sort automatically
into another column. If items are added these should be sorted
automatically.

I can do this for numbers no problem. But i cant get it to work with
words alphabetically!!!

Ive tried to use the VSORT add-in function as this is meant to do what
I want but I cant get it to work.

If anyone has any ideas please help me!!

Hi

Functions in Excel can't change anything on worksheet by definition. So
forget about them.

So you have options:
1. Add items into list, and then sort it. No need for additional column at
all, and no need for clever tricks also.
2. Write a Change event for worksheet, which checks for range in which the
last change was made, and in case the change was made in this particular
column, copies the contents of column to another one, and sorts the last one
then.
3. The same as 2., but it's an ordinary sub/macro, started from shortcut or
button manually.
4. You define the original list as dynamic named range, save the workbook,
and then create an ODBC query to get data in sorted order into another
column. In query properties you can set the refreshment shedule for query
(how often, or you set that the query is refreshed always, when workbook is
opened). And of course you can refresh the query manually from menu, or from
sub (button or shortcut available again). (NB! ODBC query from Excel table
is soo sssllllooooowwwwww!)
