Help meeeee

P

Pete

Hi Group

First post, hope I'm in the right place.

My problem is that I have created a form in FP with about 116 fields to be
filled in, with some being mandatory, having validation rules. I have it
set up so that if the form is filled out incorrectly the user is sent to a
failure page to say he/she has filled the form in incorrectly. The trouble
is when the user clicks on my 'back' button or the browser back button the
whole form is reset and no previous data the user has entered is there
meaning they have to start from scratch again, and being that there is 116
fields I think a lot of people will say @%&*%, if you get my drift.

If anybody could help it would be much appreciated.

Many Thanks

Don't send them to a failure page.
The validation script will open an alert box over the page telling them
the error. You can edit the text displayed in the box depending upon
which field is invalid.
They can then close the box without losing what they've entered into the form

Hi Steve thanks for the reply.
I have taken out my 'custom failure page' and just let FP go where it
goes by default which is a new page saying "Form Validation Error
Please correct the information you provided by following these steps,
then submit the information again:" and gives me a list of all the
fields that are incorrect, but again once I click back all the fields
are empty. So I still have the same problem, and I do not get an alert
box either.

Thanks again
Pete

Uncheck use error page and then just use form field validation

IMHO
When they see a form w/ 116 fields they will probably say @%&*% before they even start,
- and just not bother to fill it out

Thanks for your replies. Accepted 116 fields is a lot but they are
neccesary for this particular website and if people are commited they
will fill it in, plus it stops time wasters.

Again many thanks

Pete
