Help menu doesn't connect to help text

Win XP, Office SBE XP sp2

Several program installations and removals.

After this, I can click on the help menu, I can even get
the robot, but when I put in a request for help on
something specific, nothing comes up.

If I turn off the robot, I click on f1 or Microsoft Word
Help, and nothing happens. The same applies to all other
Office XP programs.

I tried a repair from the help menu but it didn't fix this
problem.

It seems that Office cannot connect to its help files, but
it doesn't even know it, so it doesn't give me an error
message.

Help? (no pun intended).
