HELP - Mouse pointer behavior

This issue was previously raised but I only got one reply! Please take the
time to review and provide some help. I've added more details hoping it will
help.

I have an old PC, Pentium II (350Mhz) I'm running Windows 98SE with MS
Office XP. The mouse is a wired Logitech C48.

The pointer shifts off the screen and stays offset in relation with its
actual position in the vertical axix. This happens when I use the top menu
bar in MS Office programs ONLY such as Word, Excel or Front Page. The
pointer will remain offset by about half a screen height until I reboot.

This problem happens when accessing the multiple drop down menus.
For example, performing File, Save is fine but when I go Insert, Picture,
From File
snags the curser.

This problem does not happen with any other applications outside of MS
Office or on Internet so that is why I've ruled out hardware problem.

I've downloaded latest SW upgrade from Ligitech with no improvement

Please advise ASAP - this is very anoying!!

Try reducing "Hardware Acceleration" for the Video adapter. I think you
will find it under Display, Properties, Advanced, troubleshooting.

Thanks Bob you hit it right on the head!

Unfortunately I had to set the accelerator at a much slower setting and the
computer is quite slow now. Can you tell me more? What hardware here (if
not monitor) is dragging the whole PC down to this new speed?

Cheers

The video card or the drivers are the cause in conjunction with the
mouse driver. Try getting a later version of driver for the Video card
at the manufacturers web sit and install that, if things go right you
will be able to move the hardware acell back to the right with out problems.
