help: MS word 2002 pages runaway

Hi,

I am writing my thesis using MS Word and having a really unexpected
problem.

To keep things manageable, my thesis chapters are in separate word
files. Almost every chapter has lots of figures and tables.

One of the chapters though not too long (just 55 pages) is bit intense
in terms of number of equations, figures and tables. This one is
giving me nightmares. When I open it sometimes the Word keeps adding
pages to it forever. This morning I opened it and I got 6700 pages
added to the document. I had to close the Word from task manager. This
is now becoming too frequent.

I tried deleting all figures and reinserting them but no success.

Can please anyone help? Is this a known problem? any patch etc?

Eternal pagination is a sign of corruption in the document.
