HELP - not able to update office automatically because of Active X

I am using Office 2000 under window 98, and used to update office with no
problem. Office update will automatically generate an updated list for each
item, then I simply click update, then it will do the task. However,
performing those automatical updated task becomes history, Active X is
required, but after I follow those precedure to enable Active X, I still not
able to generate an updated list.
Does anyone have any suggestion on updating office regarding to Active X
issue?
