HELP!! Office 2003 crashes on startup - Send Error Report Box appe

Hello, i hope someone can help. I have read how some people are experiencing
problems with Office crashing on startup. I wonder if this is the same.

I have office 2003 Pro installed on a W2K w/ SP4 PC. Up until today, Office
was fine. However this morning, tried to open OUTLOOK, but as soon as it
starts to check for mail, it crashed out with a SEND ERROR REPORT dialog box.

Checked for solutions on MS websites, followed recomended updates, etc, but
no joy. Tried uninstalling/reinstalling, rebooting, safe mode, logged on as
different users, no luck.

Strange thing is, I get the same crash/error report with Word and
Powerpoint, but not with Excel which seems unaffected. So i am wondering
whether there is some sort of file or corrupt registry entry somewhere.

I tried the Inbox repair tool as this was recommended on another post, found
some errors on my PST file, fixed it. OUTLOOK still failed to start.
Unfortunately, looking at one or two other posts there doesnt seem to be a
solution to this problem.

I do hope that there is solution as i need this PC up and running asap. Any
advice will be greatly appreicated.

I am getting this problem also.
I have searched all knowledge bases i can find.
The only information given is that Microsoft Word has encountered a problem.
It then gathers information to send. I am seeing this problem with outlook as
well when i try and add an attachment.

I have checked in the application event log and followed the link for help
on the event. This directs me to a page saying 'unknown'

Any help in trying to find a resolution to this will be greatly recieved.

Hello,

The error box says -

'Microsoft Office Outlook (or Word) has encountered a problem and needs to
close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.'

The rest is the standard 'send error report, restart appication' dialog box.

The only other thing is the error report itself which contains large amounts
of information.

Error signature

AppName: outlook.exe AppVer: 11.0.6565.0 AppStamp:42cacc7d
ModName: unknown ModVer: 0.0.0.0 ModStamp:00000000
fDebug: 0 Offset: 00000000

Hope this is of help. Thanks.

1.Close all Office programs that are open.
2.Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs.
3.In the Currently installed programs list, click Microsoft Office 2003 or another
installed Office 2003 program, and then click Change.
4.On the Maintenance Mode Options page, click Reinstall or Repair, and then click
Next.
5.On the Reinstall or Repair Office page, click Detect and Repair errors in my Office
installation.
6.Click to select the Restore my Start Menu Shortcuts check box, and then click
Install.
7.If you are prompted to restart your computer to finish the installation, click Yes.

I have done that and selected the option to repair. It reported that it had
repaired sucessfully, but the problems still remains.

We use 2003 terminal services.
Some users have the problem only on Word.
Some users have the problem only in outlook wheh trying to attach a file.
Some users have the problem in word and outlook.

Looking around and it seems that many people around the globe are
experiencing this problem with word, outlook and powerpoint. Yet none seem to
have this problem with excell or access. Suggestion is that it is the office
error handler being triggered. But by what, no one seems to know.

Thanks Mary for your suggestion. Unfortunately, as Anthony wrote, the problem
still remains. It is not just the Office programs the problem affects.

I have noticed that MSN Messenger comes up with the same error. Funnily,
Outlook Express seems unaffected, like Excel. So there must be a common
element that affects the other programs that is causing the problem

But like you say, it is unclear what is causing this problem. And it doesnt
seem like the boffins at Microsoft do either. Unless I am wrong, we could be
stuck with a useless piece of software.

Anyone else have any other suggestions/solutions? Thanks in advance.

You mentioned this:
Up until today, Office was fine.
However this morning, tried to open OUTLOOK

What changed on your system yesterday or last night? Were any service packs,
service releases, or hotfixes applied to Windows or Office or any other
software? Were any drivers (video card, printer, etc.) updated? New hardware
installed? New software installed? Anything?
