Help: Office 2003 Pro Enterprise Edition PROBLEM

J

Jon

Our company just purchased multiple licenses and are
installing this product on our computers in the office.
On one computer in particular (HP a250n) office 2003 is
having some issues.

Office (FULL Install) will install ok and no errors are
shown. When you attempt to use Word and open an exsisting
document Word will say that particular file is not
available. If you try to close Word it will say

"The file Normal.dot already exists. Do you want to
replace the existing file?"

Also this error comes up as well when trying to close
Word.

"Changes have been made that affect the global template,
Normal.dot. Do you want to save those changes?"

Also in the Options Dialog box under the Save tab "Prompt
to save Normal template" was NEVER checked.

Next...

When using Excel and trying to open a document is get the
following error

"The file cannot be opened because your virus scanner has
detected a problem with the file."

this is displayed with or without Norton Antivirus
Corporate Edition running.

If I try to close Excel it closes normally.

Next...

Access will not open any document. It just does nothing.

Similar problems were encountered on this machine after
having Office XP Pro installed and all of the updates
installed (before SP3). The only difference between this
problem and previous problems is that Access will not
open anything.

Someone please help!!!

Hi Jon,

Sounds like the workstation came with an OEM installation of Norton
AV? This issue is caused by the Office Plug-in option found in Norton
AV. To rectify, go to Norton Options and in the Miscellaneous section
turn off "Enable Office Plug-in".
