Check your installation media surface - if it is not in good state, use
another CD (you can use any CD of the same version, the only different thing
is CD KEY written on case) or try to make copy of this one, CD-RW drives are
usually able to recover and copy all data correctly even surface is slightly
bad).
Check CD-ROM drive functionality (try another CDs, do drive cleaning
procedure).
Copy content of installation media to folder on disk or to any shared folder
on your network (you can even use shared CD-ROM drive on other machine). In
case of copying files - turn off hiding of system/hidden files before
copying - there are important hidden files in root folder of setup CD that
should be copied too. Copy whole files and folders, setup will need them
all. After you have them on disk or share, browse to this folder and run
setup.exe located here.
If you are installing from disk or network, launch all office programs under
all user accounts (all accounts you want to be used under) before removing
installation folder or disconnecting share. At least run MS-Outlook, one
from word,excell or powerpoint and, for better packages, launch also
publisher and access. MS-Office 2K programs usually need to touch
installation folder (media) at time of first run.
