Help One Note is now read only!

Yikes,

I click on the system tray icon as normal and now One Note side note opens
as read only, I can not edit or add a new side note.

How do I get it out of this mode? And to stop me doing it again, how did I
get it locked read-only originally?

Thanks

Check and make sure your .ONE files didn't end up getting marked as
Read-Only. Use Windows Explorer and check the .ONE files and the My
Notebook folder.

If you open OneNote in a full window (as opposed to a SideNote do you have
the same problem?

David,
When you installed OneNote, did you activate it? And are you using the full
version or the trial? I am wondering if your copy has timed out....

Many thanks for the replies.

It is a fully licensed copy. I rebooted my PC and that cured the problem, in
that side notes are nolonger read only (it actually says readonly in the
title bar). No sign of the files been marked as read only, but I only checked
that after the reboot. This is the second time it has gone like this, I will
check the read-only status of the file first next time.

David,

If you are accessing the files from multiple locations, it may be
worth checking your settings in Tools | Options | Open and Save.

Take a look at the section entitled Accessing Files From Multiple
Locations. That might affect existing side notes.

BTW did you update to SP1 and SP2? I hazily recall the problem you
describe occurring occasionally with the original release of OneNote.
