Microsoft Outlook has no newsreader capabilities of its own, and uses
whatever the default Windows Newsreader is. In most cases, it uses Outlook
Express in "news only" mode, with a few cosmetic changes, such as the use of
the words "Outlook Newsreader" in the place of "Outlook Express". There is
no substantial difference between Outlook Express and the so-called "Outlook
newsreader". The same exact code is called in either instance. Running
Outlook Express from a shortcut with the switch "/newsonly" in its command
line will accomplish the same thing as calling it from a menu item in
Outlook.

This matter has been handled several times per day in these newsgroups since
the time the Office 2003 beta was issued. Doing a search on Google Groups
with the search phrase "lost News command" will give you 191,000 hits, the
topmost one being directly related to your problem, and offering a solution.

Actually, it's exactly the same as OE - because that's exactly what it is!
Outlook does not - and never has had - its own reader - it uses OE. I
haven't got time to offer you a solution but, if you search Google
(http://groups.google.com > Advanced Search link) for exactly your subject
you'll be able to answer your own question. Always research first.

I shouldn't have answered you - learn some damned patience! This isn't MS
technical support and it's highly impolite to post again less than an hour
(42 minutes to be precise) after the first time!

Oh and I'd learn to do some research first, before insisting that you're
right - it just makes you look an idiot when you're told you're not.

You're not. Like all of us you get frustrated. I usually go and delete an
important file. Get to you after a while does'nt it?

Keep plugging.

Sometimes that happens, I needed to re-create mine a few days ago.

Go, News is in Outlook, but it may not be listed on your Go menu. Right
click on your Outlook Toolbar and select Customize. Select the Commands tab.
On left, select Go and then scroll down on the right and you will find News.
Then you can either add it to the Go menu or create its own toolbar {IMO,
the latter}.

IMO, I just prefer opening Outlook Express {news reader mode} from Outlook.
