Help Opening ppt file

I saved a ppt show to cd when I wanted to clean up my hard drive. I
also saved the related files. Now when I try to open the ppt file, I
get a message that says: "No text converter is installed fir this type
of ppt file." I have changed to ppt2007 but it won't open with ppt2003
either. Any ideas? Thanks.

Usually this is corrected (if I have understood the rest of the postings on
this topic correctly) by installing a local printer and doing all the
updates (meaning Windows, Office PowerPoint, DirectX, Printer driver - even
though you just installed it).

This solution was offered by a fellow MVP, Glen Millar:

"It could be that the file extension information has become corrupt and the
system does not know how to handle the file extension. Try this for the
office converter pack:

I can't thank you enough for all of your help. I have tried all that
you suggest. Right now, I'm trying to update Office 2003. I have
installed Office 2007 and that won't open the file either. I'll keep
trying but it looks like a lost cause.

I would try using Open Office (Impress is the application you want) to open
