HELP!! OR IM GOING TO THROUGH THIS COMPUTER IN THE RIVER!!!!

Hello

My problem is hopefully simple to someone outh there.
Everytime that I try to type an outline or a list(without
autoformatting) or using the outline tool, Word will
automatically start double spacing my lines. For example
if I want to type
1.
2.
3.

I will get
1.

2.

3.

I dont want them double spaced and I have tried
everything. From turning off all autoformatting tools, to
highlighting the area and making sure the area is
formatted for single spacing. I dont know what to do and
it is DRIVING ME CRAZY? The document always starts out
as a single spaced document and then it morphs into this
double spacing animal. What is the deal??

Thanks
Monica

Look up on the Formatting toolbar and notice the "Normal" style in the Style
Box. Turn your autonumbering back on. Type a 1., TAB, then an ENTER to
automatically create a "2.". Look at the Style showing in that same box.
More than likely that is the Style that has double-spacing set on it. Click
the "Format" menu and click "Styles (or Styles and Formatting in XP), modify
the "Paragraph" attributes of the Style to single-spacing (might be 6 point
before and 6 point after).

Make sure the "Automatically Update" checkbox is not checked. Click the
"Add to template" check box and your normal.dot global template should save
these formatting changes.

Holler if that doesn't work (or make sense).

Hi

Do you have a list or index of these .htm pages that you recommend as they
are really good. (or is it a trade secret???)

Kind regards
