Help PLEASE! - default data file problem

M

Michael

Hi,

I am almost in tears with frustration!

I want to move my default Outlook 2003 data file to a different partition.

I have looked up all the instructions on the web, even the Microsoft site,
have followed ALL the instructions to the letter, but Outlook 2003 simply
WON'T let go of its default data file on C:\Documents and setings, etc...

I get a LOT of email, and don't want it filling up my XP partition.

When I select the new data file I don't get the message (which I'm
apparently supposed to get) which says "You have changed your default data
file...etc"

I even deleted and recreated my POP3 account. I simply can't see what I am
doing wrong.

Does Microsoft take PRIDE in making software that is as difficult as humanly
possible to configure?

Can anyone HELP???

Thanks,
:)
Michael

Hi Michael,

1. Close Outlook.
2. Open Control Panel and "Mail". This will open "Mail Setup - Outlook"
window.
3. Click "E-Mail Account" button. This will open a window. Click next.
4. Click "New Outlook Data File". Create it in your new directory.
5. Select the new file from the files list. This actually set the new file
as your default inbox/outbox file.
6. finish by closing all the windows.
7. open outlook and you'll have the new file as your default.

Hopes this helps.

Oren
