Help Please with Growth Formula

MB

We have a population of 70,000 and need a formula that
would show a growth of 2% over the next 10 years. Can
you help me with the formula, please?

We are using Excel 2002 on XP.

Thank you so much.

Is this a simple or compound growth? Is interest accumulated monthly,
quarterly or annually?

in a1 type 10000

in a2 the formula =a1+(a1*2%)

copy the formula down for as many years as you need
each cell below will add 2% to the previose years figure

sorry that should be type 70000 in cell A1

then the formula =a1+(a1*2%)
copy it down for as many years as you want to see the growth pattern

Just to mention...there is a "Future Value" function that returns the same
answer:

=FV(2%,10,,-70000)

Just to mention...there is a "Future Value" function that returns the same
answer:

=FV(2%,10,,-70000) ...
...

Hard to come up with any meaningful interpretation of negative people (other
than the obvious but nonquantitative one).
