Just seems to hang.

Did put up a message about a possibly corrupt document but does not allow
you to click on Yes or No button, just hangs.........

Office 2004
Word Version 11.1.0

OSX 10.3.9

PowerBook with 1.5Gb memory and loads of free disk space.

I have no idea how to get this working again.

Any help REALLY appreciated.

Start out with the basic troubleshooting methods found here:

http://word.mvps.org/MacWordNew/TroubleshootingIndex.htm

(use Firefox, OmniWeb, Opera, etc. If you use Safari, hit refresh a
couple of times per page).

You can try the standard troubleshooting tips, listed here:
http://word.mvps.org/MacWordNew/TroubleshootingIndex.htm
(hit refresh a few times in Safari, or use a different browser)

Alternatively, test it in a new user account. If the new account works,
switch over to it. If you don't want to switch over, work through the
troubleshooting tips, most of which relate to settings in the user account.
If the new user account doesn't work, go straight to the instructions for
Remove and Reinstall.

For the corrupt document, see this link:
http://word.mvps.org/MacWordNew/DocumentCorruption.htm
(hit reload a few times in Safari, if that doesn't work, try Explorer)

A small update and a last cry for help before I de-install and re-install.

ALL OTHER OFFICE APPS ARE WORKING FINE.

Word will open fine if I double click the Word icon.

However I cannot open any of my existing documents either through the file
open or double clicking the document.

Word simply hangs if I do this.

Any more thoughts?

Cheers.

If none of the troubleshooting tips already suggested worked for you, I
think Remove and Reinstall is your only recourse. Be sure to see the
suggested webpage for best practice on doing that.

You did see our previous two posts, right?

Hi All

Many thanks for your assistance.

I followed through the tips and while none of the issues exactly matched my
problem I did follow them and 'voila' Word is working again.

MANY THANKS.
