Hi Randall
Is the link on the web page supposed to be opening a Word document? And you
get a message asking if you want to open or save that Word document? If
that's so, then you can click Open to open the document.
You can enable or un-enable this feature. On the desktop, double-click My
Computer. Tools > Folder Options. Click the File Types tab. [Wait for what
always seems to me to be too long!] Find the entry for DOC. Click Advanced.
There are two settings here that determine how a Word document will open
from a link in a web page.
If "Confirm open after download" is ticked, you'll see the dialog box you're
experiencing. So un-tick it.
If "Browse in same window" is ticked, then the Word document will open in
the same window as Internet Explorer (either automatically, or after you
click Open if you have chosen to see the dialog box). Sounds like you'd
probably prefer to have this one ticked.
Note that these instructions are for Windows XP. If you have a different
version of Windows, the instructions might be slightly different.
Hope this helps.
