Help Popups don't work

P

Peter Borgmann

In some of the help windows for Office products, there are
some words that are in blue and are clearly intended to be
popups that give definitions or explanations of the words
in blue. When I left-click on them nothing happens. When
I right-click and select Properties I get a window that
states: "javascript:HelpPopup
('oftip9.hlp','IDH_ofdefPUblicFolder'); and "Protocol
unknown" and "type not available".

I suspect I just haven't activated something. Any
suggestions on how to make this active or otherwise make
it work? I am running Windows 98 2nd ed. and Office 2000.
Control panel tells me there are at least four Java plug-
ins.

thanks in advance,

Peter

Hi Peter,

The 'show me' and popup definitions were disabled
by MS as part of updating MS Office 2000 to plug
a potential security hole and the method used to
show the definitions was changed to a different
one in Word 2002/2003.
