Help! Problem with headers and footers in Landscape mode

Sami

Hello,

I have a problem. I have made a document in portrait mode which contains
headers and footers. In the document I have some pages in landscape mode
that contain a large table. The headers and footers on these landscape pages
are shown on the long sides of the pages top and bottom and not on the top
and bottom as in portrait mode.

How do I move the headers and footers to the top and bottom of the page as
is the case in portrait mode.

A swift response is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Swift? - well thought out? (choose one)

Make graphics of the footer and header text, then place them rotated in
the headers and footers?
I am not sure that I could come up with a well thought out answer. ;-)

Hi Sami-

The problem is that with the pages in Landscape, the "long" sides
actually become the top and bottom. I don't know of any way to shift or
rotate your headers & footers to what are actually the sides of the
pages involved.

Similar to Elliott's suggestion, you could delete the headers & footers
on these two pages and create text boxes on the page which you can
resize and position as necessary. Equally time consuming, and either
method will not allow for page# codes, etc. in the text boxes.

Another approach that comes to mind - not any easier or quicker... in
fact, you will probably have to re-enter the data in the table if you
can't find a way to expedite the process;

Leave the pages in Portrait. Select the table and use Format>Text
Direction to change the way the text is oriented in the cells to read
up & down the page rather than across. You'll still have a lot of col.
width & row ht. adjustment to be made, but you'll also be able to use
your regular headers/footers and maintain page numbering, etc. In other
words you are reorienting the table to suit the page rather than
reorienting the page to accomodate the table.

The only other approach that comes to mind is to select and copy the
table, then use Paste Special to create a picture which you can
manipulate as needed. This is probably fastest & easiest, but might not
provide a better finished product.

Best of Luck! |:>)

There's an MVP FAQ, so someone already thought this out.

(hit refresh a few times in Safari, or use a different browser)

I think it has a couple more tricks than CyberTaz suggests, but I've only
skimmed it--and I think his text box might be the most likely way. Re his
suggestion of changing the tables--note that Excel has a Paste Special--
Transpose command which can help you do this, perhaps.
