Help! Publisher 2003 - saving to disc as an older version

M

Merrie

I have Publisher 2003. I'm trying to save a copy of the marching band's
newsletter as Publisher 2000. When I click on the Save As Type drop down
menu (as instructed by my cheerful little paperclip), I do not find 2000 as
an option. The only option is to save it as Microsoft Office Publisher
Document. The print shop at the junior high where this is printed FOR FREE
only has 2000 so I must convert. How???

M

Merrie

Yes! I did! The only two options I have are "sort" - but clicking on that
only changes the direction in which the arrow beside it is pointing - and
"Microsoft Office Publisher Document." That's all. Is something up with my
program, do you think???

Are you certain 2000 isn't listed as save as, files of type?
Can you save as a PDF?
www.primopdf.com is free and will convert your file.
If you cannot get the publication to save as a 2000 I will convert it for you.

I'm positive, Mary. I've clicked on everything possible. It's just not
there. Randy, the guy in the print shop, said he could use a PDF file so I
guess I'll try saving it that way. I'm such a neophyte! I have Adobe. Can
I use that? And thank you for the offer to convert it for me! That was
nice! =)

That doesn't sound quite right. "Sort" is not a file type.

I'm going to take a few steps backwards here. Can you tell me the steps you
are taking to get to where you see "Sort"?

Yep. File > Print, select Adobe PDF (or Acrobat Distiller) from the
drop-down.

(This requires the full version of Adobe Acrobat; if you only have Adobe
Reader, then you can't do it and will have to download a third-party app.)

This is preferable anyway, as saving as a Publisher 2000 incurs
unpredictable formatting loss.

Hi JoAnn. First I'm clicking on SaveAs. Then I click on the drop-down arrow
next to Type. It says "Sort" and underneath with a box for me to check is
"Microsoft Office Publisher Document." Am I clicking in the wrong spot?

Are you able to take a screenshot of how your screen looks when you have
"Sort" visible?

When you've hit the drop-down and have "Sort" visible, hit the
PrintScreen (or PrtSc) key on your keyboard, then load up a copy of
Paint, use Edit > Paste, and save the file as a PNG.

Email it to
the UNDERSCORE nerd AT mvps DOT org
and I'll try and work out what you're doing! :)
