Help required for Formula

Dear Mathamaticians:

I just required an formula for the following case:

Suppose we produce 1000 units of Product "A" and only able to Sale 700
units. How can we translate this into % (percentage like 700/1000=70%).

Secondly, lets reverse the case, we sold 700 units & and produced 1000 units
(1000/700=142.86 WHY?)

Both case answers should not be equal? What I exactly want to ask is %
differece between Production & Sales

Hi
to be honest: You may consider reading a book about percentage
calculation :)))
In you case:
A1: amount of produced goods
A2: sold goods
A3: Formula
=A2/A1
and format this cell ('Format - Cells') as percentage. This gives you
the ration of how many percents of your produced goods you have sold.
So with your example 70%

If you use the formula
=A1/A2
you'll get the percentage of your produced goods in comparisson to your
sold goods. So in your case 142%. So you have 42% more goods produced
than sold.

And if you want to show the "% more goods produced than sold", change the
formula to =A1/A2-1

Hello Frank:

to be more honest with myself, i think i m very good in Maths ;) but
sometimes you just struck in logics.

I was thinking that both % should be equal as If production dept. claims
that they produced 30% more goods so Sales Dept. should also report that
they could not able to sales 30% of goods.

I don't know. Its Maths with all its precision :)

Thanks for the help.
