Hello

I'm using Word 2003 to create a long-ish document that requires
specific page and paragraph setting. One of these is that numbered
procedural lists should be indented from the Normal style by an inch
or so.

I have set up all my styles the way I need them, but I've hit a
problem - each time I apply my 'Procedure' style the numbering
continues from the previous instance of that style. But if I
right-click on the first item in the list and tell it to 'restart
numbering', Word resets the indenting of the style and I lose my
custom indenting.

Please help - is this a bug or a "feature"? If the latter, how do I
get around it?

[indents change on "Restart numbering"]

Hi Jeremy,

Also in my experience this only happens if you have conflicting settings
for indents in the style definition (Format > Paragraph) and the list
template (number position, text position, indent).

It's best to first define the style without any (paragraph) indents at all,
and do them in the numbering definition only.

Regards,
Klaus
