Help Restarting Entourage Sounds

In anticipation of the arrival of OSX 10.5 this weekend I did some
housekeeping by trashing old user preference files. After restarting my
Entourage 2004 v11.3.6 is muted.

I went to the Ent General Preferences/Notifications and everything looks
okay but NOTHING happens when I click on the speaker icons next to the
Microsoft Sound Set

Can someone tell what preference file I may have trashed by mistake and
I may be able to find it on my backup drive.

I am open to any suggestion to restart the Entourage sounds.

I just double checked and I did NOT trash the Microsoft folder in the
user/Library/Preferences folder.

Mickey,

Thank for the link. I read the link and do not think that was the
problem. FYI, I could boot from the backup drive the Entourage sounds
all worked perfect. I then copied the Micorsoft Pref folder and the
Microsoft User Data from the backup to the primary drive and restarted
the primary drive. The Ent sounds were still dead. I am clueless on
where Microsoft store the sound preferences.

After two hours of messing with it I gave up and cloned the backup drive
to the primary and got the Entourage sounds back.

I sure would like to know what User/Library/Preferences file stores the
Entourage sound goodies. They are not stored in the "Microsoft" prefs
folder.

All is well now and I will just live with my crappy Preference files for
OS 10.5 update.

The sounds are typocally located here:
/Users/<Your User>/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Entourage Sound Sets/

Within there, the individual sound set files contain the sounds you see in
the Notification preferences. The odd thing in your case is that the sound
set must have been present, otherwise you wouldn't have seen "Microsoft
Sound Set" as an option in preferences. Perhaps the file was corrupted.

Mickey,

Like you said the odd thing is that file was not deleted. I too
suspected a corrupted file and replaced it with a known good file
and Entourage was still muted. There is something in the
User/Library/Preference folder that influences the ENT sounds.

Like the old Bumper-Sticker says it happens. Everyone beware of trashing
old preference files. There is one sneaky file that will mute Entourage.

I was trying to clean house in anticipation of the Leopard's arrival on
Monday
