Help Saving MPP File into Enterprise Project Template

Hard to find the answer in the textbook I have. How do I take a .mpp file and
save it to the Project Server as an Enterpise Project Template?

Lewis,

connect to Project Server using Project Professional.
Go to Tools > Enterprise Options > Import Project to Enterprise.....
This will open a wizard that leads you trough the process of how to import
an mpp file into Project Server.
Please note, you have the change to save the project as a project or a
template
hope this helps

I have a brute force method which seems to work for simple projects:

If you want it quick and brutal, try opening a new Enterprise project,
copying all the Tasks in your mpp file and pasting them into the new project.
The resource table, Duration, Work and Predecessors will come with the
tasks. If you have a different number of work hours in the day/month between
the two, dates will change.

Then publish without further edits and start checking. Check Resources
(match local to global resources, or reassign to global resources); check
predecessors; and carefully check start/finish dates. All changes must be
traced.

Often the calendars, custom fields, VBA macros or other aspects of an mpp
format project are incompatible with the resource template.

The wizard is very helpful in dealing with this.
