I have tried a few times to update the following file as recommended by
xp autoupdate. Each time it fails

Security Update for Office 2003 (KB924424)

I have also just failed to install Update for Windows XP (KB920342) for
the 1st time as well.

Also MS support has no help files relating to failure of install.

updating your Office installation from the Office Update Web site"

There are a number of fixes here I have tried and resolved a number of
problems, however,...

I still can not intall security update for Excel 2003 KB923088
