Help tekst when hoovering over, or selecting shape

Arnold

Hi,

I would like to get a notes field that shows as soon as I hoover over a
shape, or select it.
When not selected I would like that text to hide.

I do not see how I can get a notes field in the custom properties section,
so I assume I will have to extend my shapes with a tekst that will show up
with these actions. (Double clicking is not an option, since I use this for
something else.)

I use Visio 2007.
How can I manage this ?

Hi Arnold,

You can hook the comment field to one of your custom properties by entereing
a formula in the ShapeSheet.

- Select your shape
- Choose Window > Show ShapeSheet
- Find the Comment cell in the Miscellaneous section
- Enter the formula "= Prop.Cost" (or similar)

Whatever you enter in Prop.Cost will show when you mouse-over your shape.

Hope this helps,

Chris's suggestion is the shapesheet version of my answer. The bonus to
Chris's approach is that you can enter a formula while you can only enter
text through the UI.
