help to find files not showing in word

Please help me.... I have microsoft word 2000 and
installed it to my new computer with windows xp, one day
it was all messed up and I reinstalled and now over half
of my old files are missing. I just need to know how to
find these documents they are very important.

Use Windows Search (off the menu) to hunt for *.doc files.

It's likely that you've installed Windows to a new location so now you have
a new user profile under C:\Documents and Settings\ and your files are
sitting under your old profile.

Have you tried using the "Search" function from the Start menu?
If they're Word Docs then search for files/folders named "*.doc"
