Help turning off stuff in Word 2003

How do I stop the anti-Virus scan in Word 2003? I have other anti-Virus
software on my system and I can't stand waiting for Word to finish it's
little scan of every document I open, (even the one I just opend 3 seconeds
ago).

Also, how do I stop that "Getting Started" side-bar on the right side from
opening every time I open a document?

The anti-virus scan is not part of Word 2003. If you are using Norton, in
Options, Miscellaneous clear the check box for Office Plug-in.
