HELP! Unable open Entourage 2004 after SP2 & rebuild database!!!

All,

Everytime I try to start Entourage, it quits during the start up.

This happened after I rebuilt the database, after installing SP2. I
have now noticed that I have two databases: "Database" (1.36GB) and
"Old Database" (1.36GB). To try to alleviate the problem, I have tried
the following:

As the SP2 Read Me says to re-install Office if I have trouble, I have
gone & removed (excluding the Preference's file) & re-installed Office
2004 & it's 3 updates (including SP2). Still unable to open. I then
clicked on the database to open, Entourage then proceeded to Update the
Identity, in the middle of the update it crashed & asked me to rebuild
the database. I rebuilt the database again & again clicked on the
database file & STILL CRASHES!!!!

I notice that in previous versions of Entourage, there was a 4GB
limit...did that come back w/ SP2????

What's going on???? I have all my emails & contacts in this
database!!!! I am even unable to open back up databases? What can I do
to fix this????

Do you still have a copy of your original database before the SP2 upgrade?
Does it report any problems when verified with the Database Utility? Can you
post the crash report?

I didn't back anything up before I did the SP2 upgrade, although the
database utility made some back ups, the one I think was done during
upgrade: bRad NeImAn [Backed up 8-23-2005 9.43]

This has been reported via Microsoft Error Reporting, though it had not been
investigated yet, AFAICT. The identity's database is in a particular bad
state with regards to the Exchange account records (not the Exchange
mail/calendar/contact items themselves, but in the records which store
information for the Exchange account). It had probably gotten into such a
bad state before 11.2.0, but 11.2.0 is more succeptible to problems with
that state than its predecessors. I don't know whether a rebuild should
address this type of bad state or not (apparently not, if you've tried it
already). I'm asking my collegues whether it is recoverable or not (or
perhaps "how recoverable is it" and "how does one recover" are the
questions).

This issue (Crash in Entourage 11.2.0 at offset 0x0020b0d0) is not being
considered for the release that is immediately forthcoming.

I didn't back anything up before I did the SP2 upgrade, although the
database utility made some back ups, the one I think was done during
upgrade: bRad NeImAn [Backed up 8-23-2005 9.43]
