help underlining an entire line with merge templates

Is there a way to solve this problem? I'm setting up a customer
information form with lines for Name, Address, City, State, Zip. For
each field I want to have a solid underline bar extend the entire width
of the form. I also want to set up merge fields to fill in the form
with existing customer data. The result should have the customer's name
underlined and the underline bar should continue to extend to the right
edge of the form.

I can design a form with a fixed number of underline characters to
create the horizontal line, but attempting to insert a customer name
over the top of this line won't work, it just pushes the line to the
right causing it to wrap. Any suggestions for getting this to work?
Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestion, CyberTaz. I also found that I can add a tab
stop at the very end of the line, add a single tab character after my
merge field and then underline the entire line.

Yes, you can, but that will result in the same problem as if you had
*typed* the underscores, just like your original problem. Only
difference is that the tab stop is filling the line with the leader
rather than you typing it... either way only one character can occupy
any given space on a line at a time.
