HELP!! "Unrecognized DB Format"

Hello,
I have a split database with user-level security. I have three FE databases
but when attempting to open any of these I get the following message:
"Unrecognized database format [I:\ ....], which is the file path to the
location of my BE. Does anyone have any suggestions PLEASE!!
