Sloan
I did the following:
- removed the active-x control, opuc.dll
- cleared cookies, cache (including offline files) and history in IE
-deleted D:\Program Files\OfficeUpdate11 (in my case windows and apps are
installed to D
, and I had deleted both this one and P...F\OfficeUpdate
yesterday as well
-Emptied the recycle bin
On going to the office update site (which I have added to the "trusted
sites" in IE as well), the following happens:
-It correctly identifies the one patch I need (in this case KB826293, Access
Snapshot Viewer), and shows the "start installation" button. The script
error is still there (same as before).
---Line:381, Char:1, Error: Object Expected, Code:0, URL:
http://office.microsoft.com/officeupdate/mainCatalog.aspx?CTT=98
-When I click start installation, an error message pops up and goes away,
followed by an errror: The page cannot be displayed:
http://office.microsoft.com/home/office.aspx?assetid=FX010357071033 ;
Operation Aborted.
Oddly, I don't have the same problem at my work computer, which has an
almost identical software environment. I did find that a number of people
have been reporting the new error in the last couple of days
(FX010357071033).
Any help would be apprciated.
Thanks
Jones

You should also clear the Internet Explorer cache prior to trying again.

I did some checking, and the latest update to OfficeUpdate changed the
location of the client files. Anyhow, try moving the 'C:\Program
Files\OfficeUpdate11' folder, and then try the detection again.
Also, are you still seeing the original script error? Or are you just
seeing a patch failure?

Tried that - still get the same error. It tries to redirect to the
following invalid URL:
http://office.microsoft.com/home/office.aspx?assetid=FX010357071033
It's likely that the Office Update client that has been cached on
your
computer is corrupt. Try moving the 'C:\Program Files\OfficeUpdate'
folder
to another temporary location, and then check to see if the Product
Updates
detection works. This should download the Office Updates client
cache
again.
