HELP! Video plays in WMP outside pwrpt but not in pwrpt itself

I can play my mpeg2 in Windows media player but once I get into Powerpoint when I have set my movie to play automatically it comes up with a green screen or has come up with a jumbled screen that is a composite of the first few frames of my movie. I have tried this presentation on 10 computers and and it works fine. After reading the article on Sonia's website titled "Definition of Multimedia and File Formats I tried to trouble shoot on my own. It was great except I couldn't find several items that were supposed to be with Windows XP such as Windows setup in the add/remove, mplayer.exe and MCI Extensions in the system Registry. I have updated this computer to Windows Media 9 and downloaded the codecs associated with Windows Media 9. The article said that some 3rd party software might cause problems. This computer has a number of viewers that are installed such as e drawings 2003, volo view express, model press viewer 3.0., or another file I found digital voice editor. I think the first 3 are 3D viewing programs as this is the client's computer so I am uncertain as to their application. PLEASE if anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it. The operating system is Windows XP and has Pentium 4 CPU, 2.4 GHz, 248 MB of Ram. Thank you in advance for you tim

Couple of things Lisa,

I didn't see what version of PowerPoint you are using. I understand that
you are working off a Windows XP system, but MS Office and PowerPoint
version isn't always the same as Windows version. This is sometimes a point
of confusion. It makes a difference with multimedia.

In Windows XP, "mplayer.exe" is called "mplay32.exe" and should be in the
C:\Windows\System32 folder. MCI information is changed via Start | Run |
Sysedit ** Usual warnings apply ** you are changing very high level system
configuration files **

Thanks to all that responded and especially to Adam who had the winning solution. Not that the others wouldn't work it was too techinical to follow so I took the easy way out. I am curious though why this file would work on the other 10 computers. They are not all Powerpoint 2003. What specifications of the various computers should I be aware of that might produce this problem with decoding MPEG 2. Thank you again in advance for your time
