HELP! Views are dark

Amy

A couple of weeks ago my hard drive blew. It's fixed now, but my ppt
presentations, when viewed in Powerpoint are dark. The images appear OK in
other applications and when converted to an html look good. The
presentations also appear OK on other computers using Powerpoint. Is there a
setting in Powerpoint that will allow me to view the screen lighter?

Thanks

Did you actually visit the website of the video card manufacturer and verify
that you have the latest driver? Your description of the problem points to a
problem outside of PowerPoint and the video driver is the most likely cause.
There are no controls within PowerPoint that change the display qualities of
your monitor. Those are set in Windows. Right click on your Desktop and select
Properties. Then go to Settings. What do you have set in Color Quality?

Hi Sonia,

I asked our Tech Guys and they said they checked for the latest drivers and
everything is up-to-date.

The images in Powerpoint are only very dark in Powerpoint in other
applications Photoshop and Deneeba everything looks fine. And when
Powerpoint turns the slides into html pages everything looks just ask it's
suppose to.

Thanks much

What version of PowerPoint are you using?

Hi Sonia,

Sorry, is the Color Quality the "Display Properties" ? If that's it, it's
set at True Color (32 bit)

Tks,

Can you test the presentation on another system to see whether it displays the
way you think it should?

You know, I'm really suspicious of your Tech Guys. Contrary to their popular
belief, they don't always know all. They probably assume that the video driver
that comes with Windows means that it's the best one available. Do you know
what video card you have? If not, you can find out by going to the Control
Panel. Click on System. Then click on the Hardware tab and then on the Device
Manager button. In the list that you now see, click on the + next to Display
Adapters.

I don't think so.

The images were mostly created in Canvas and were OK before the drive blew.
After the computer was fixed the images, only Powerpoint looked really dark
(couldn't see a lot of them). When the Powerpoint presentations were viewed
on other computers they looked fine again (or when viewed in other
applications).

The Tech Guy loaded a newer version of Office last night (2002) and images
in Powerpoint looking OK. He said I had a bad version of Powerpoint so just
decided to upgrade me.

I guess that might be the answer, but Powerpoint was fine until I suffered
that hardware problem.

Thanks for your help. If anyone else has another answer as to why
Powerpoint 2000 had this problem I'd really like to know what was done to fix
it.
