HELP W/ CHANING FONT

MY WORD DOCUMENTS ARE STUCK ON A 12 FONT...
HAVE BEEN TO: FORMAT/FONT/10 AND OK.
WORD ONLY CHANGES IT FOR THE EXISTING DOCUMENT.
ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.
KEEP IN MIND I AM NOT THE BRIGHTEST STAR IN THE SKY WHEN IT COMES TO
FIXING SOFTWARE....:>)
