Help w/Linking

I am looking for a function in Word similar to the linking function in Excel
that allows you to create a formula that pulls data from another source in
response to information presented in the original source.

For example, I am looking to create a form and based on the selection in the
form create a letter. The letter will pull information from the secondary
source based on the information provided in the letter (orignal source). I
know I can perform this in Excel but can I do it in Word?

There's an entire feature, with many options, called "mail merge", to do
exactly that. Now that you know the correct term, you can find plenty of
information about it in the Help and through web search engines. Here's a
