Hello everyone,
General background: Vista Ultimate x64 installation died, and I have to
straighten out how my old Outlook 2007 data will react when reconnecting the
PST in a fresh OS + Office 2007 installation.
Specific issue: I had MS Windows Live Hotmail Connector installed in my old
Outlook setup, and when it's not first uninstalled correctly (from within
Outlook, in addition to within Add/Remove Programs) the Connector is known to
create problems for Outlook.
In my situation, obviously I'm not able to uninstall WLHC correctly -- or at
all -- before reinstalling the PST.
Before I reinstall, I need help understanding exactly what I'm going to need
to do to get the reinstallation to accept my old PST.
1. If I reinstall Outlook 2007 and WLHC FIRST, and THEN replace the default
files with the old PST and WLHC profiles, I'll be OK, correct?
2. Where on my drive are the WLHC-specific profiles stored that I'll need to
have to replace the default WLHC profiles when I reinstall Outlook + WLHC?
3. Did the upgrade to WHLC 10.2 result in any incompatibilities with the old
WLHC profiles? I have the installer for the old WHLC version that I was still
using, but I want to know if I can just install the newest version and get
things rolling, rather than install->import->uninstall->install update.
The reason I am being very cautious here is that last time I didn't
"correctly" uninstall WLHC, I couldn't even get Outlook 2007 to OPEN.
(Outlook quit before opening, with this error:
QUOTE
1. The Add-in "Outlook Connector Extensions" (msncon32.dll) cannot be loaded
and has been disabled by Outlook. Please contact the Add-in manufacturer for
an update. If no update is available, please uninstall the Add-in.
2. Cannot open your default e-mail folders. An unexpected error has
occurred. MAPI was unable to load the information service msncon32.dll. Be
sure the service is correctly installed and configured.

For anyone out there who is getting this error, and haven't found a
solution, the thread with the solution is here:
