Help with an order form not printing correctly on my website

M

Mrs. M.

I made an order form for my website with Publisher 2003. I saved it as a
webpage, viewed it in Explorer, then I copied the html code, pasted it into
Notepad. Then I have to change some of the html for the pictures I have on it
so it can find them in the folder I have on my site. After all this, I save
it as an .html file, upload to my estore using my control panel. I can't
just upload it right from Publisher since I have to have the file extension
be .html. Maybe I can, I just don't know how to do it.

The order form shows up just like I made it, but in the print preview and in
actually printing the orderform, my table lines are missing.

I would appreciate any advice on how to make the tables show up in printed
form like they do on the website. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Also,
is there an easier way for me to get the html code??? It seems like I am
doing a lot and it should be easier.

Is there by chance a Publisher 2003 for Dummies book available?

hmmmm, you don't want to be doing any of the things you are doing, not with
Publisher. If you want to be that hands-on you need to use FrontPage.

I strongly urge you to never modify Publisher's html output.

As for your pictures, if you must use your own local pre existing images
rather then inserting them at design time then refer to my article at
http://www.publishermvps.com/Default.aspx?tabid=84 for the correct
technique.

As for the extension, the web server should use .html equally with .htm, but
if you must use .html that is no biggie, just specify that in the save box
in Publisher when you save it. That is a very simple matter of where the box
displays "index.htm" in the save dialog you just stick your little mouse
cursor in there and change it to "index.html".

And I strongly recommend that Publisher always do the publishing.

As for print preview (same as printing) I don't know what to say other then
these forms are designed for browser display and not for printing. They may
or may not reproduce accurately for printing. If you want a downloadable
order form I suggest creating one as a pdf and offering that as the download
form.

No there is no easier way because the html code doesn't exist until
Publisher writes it during the publish to web - Publisher is not an html
editor - nor is Publisher a web design tool. Again it's output is not
designed to be modified, Publisher is designed to modify pages visually in
the pub document only.

You don't need a book, just bookmark www.publishermvps.com
