Help with Annoying Beeping

M

Mike Thomas

This should be a simple one, but would bring sooooo much relief.

There are 2 Access programmers in this office. I am not sure what exactly
they are doing, but whenever one of them does someting in the program to
generate a warning, or whatever, Access 2000 beeps at them. We have turned
off all sounds in Windows XP and turned the volume down to 0. So far,
nothing works. This happens when they are designing forms, writing code,
etc.

Is there a way to tell Access to cease all sounds?

Many thanks
Mike Thomas

I don't think this is an Access specific problem - you may be better off
asking in the Windows XP o/s forums. Having said that:

What do you mean "turned the volume down to 0"? If all you're doing is
turning down the volume knob on a set of external set of speakers, this isn't
going to silence the internal speaker of the PC. If he doesn't want any sound
at all, you could mute it altogether - go to Start -> Settings -> Control
Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices, and on the Volume tab click on the "Mute"
checkbox...

hi dude. check the form properties of the calling module, other if custom
msgbox, or code if you like linguini.

A thought occurred to me... the MsgBox that pops up when VB is fed
something indigestible plays a sound such as that resulting from the
"Exclamation" program event (depending on what kind of MsgBox it is).
If you never want to hear any MsgBox do that, you might disable
"Exclamation" in Control Panel, "Sounds and Audio Devices Properties".
Or you could use the nuclear option of selecting the "No Sounds" sound
scheme there. (You'd probably want to turn sounds back on when the
programmers aren't working there.)

Please feel free to quote anything I say here.

Many thanks Vincent

Your suggestion "Or you could use the nuclear option of selecting the "No
Sounds" sound
scheme there" worked perfectly.
