HELP with Deleting a single Cell!!!

Brooks Parker

Hello,

I'm using Word 2002 and set up a simple table of 3 rows and 4
columns. I want to delete 1 cell of the top/left row only, off the top
and
leave 3 column full. It will then look kind of like a tab on a file
folder. i.e.:
xxx xxx xxx
xxx xxx xxx xxx
xxx xxx xxx xxx

I found how to delete a whole row or column and shift Cells left
or Up but in reality, I need to delete one cell to the Right or down
direction. I have tried to modify the outer border by merging 2 cells
and dragging the border, but it always changes the entire 1st column,
not the top cell I am interested in getting rid of. Please HELP!!!

Thanks for any and all help,
Brooks

Does deleting the top and right border of the first cell in the first row/column solve your problem?

Top and left border, I think.

I finally figured out how to manipulate the tables to get what I
wanted. There are two ways to do this.

1) Slect the cell in question and eliminate the outside borders,
which will still leave a slight gray shadow border that disappears
during printing.

2) By merging the top row and then creating 3 cells, you can drag an
individual outside border, but you need to highlight the individual
cell. If you do not highlight the cell only, you will change the
entire outside borer, not just the cell in question!

Thanks

Brooks
