Help with filtering

Please, how do you filter the "Task Usage" menu by a selected "group"
and "task", so that it shows the total time duration of the subtasks as
a total duration of that specific group and not as a total duration of
all groups that fall under that subtask? Please help!

On the resource sheet make sure all resources are assigned to a "Resource
Group"
In the Task Usage View, try Project/Group By/Customize Group By....

Check the box "Group on Assignments, not tasks
Goup By Name
Then By Resource Group
Change the field type of Resource Group from "Task" to "Assignment"

This will list all task names with resource assignments, then resource group
underneath that. Unfortunately, the full outline structure is not respected,
you will see a list of tasks at "Detail Level"

See if that works for you. If not, you may need to do something to assist
with the outline structure. I'll look into it more if needed.

Jim,
Thanks for your help, though I think I am working on a different
version of project, Project 2000? I think I can get as far as "Then By
Resource Group" in your instructions, but I can not see where I can
"Change the field type of Resource Group from 'Task' to 'Assignment'"?
Can you help any further?

Hello,

I don't have Project 2000 available to check, but it is possible that the
ability to group by Assignment fields was not available until 2002. Is there
a checkbox that says "Group assignments not tasks"?

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Julie

Thanks Julie,

No I dont have a checkbox that says "Group assignments not tasks",
maybe you are right and it is just because of what version I have here.
Plus I am actually working on a project in France so the
MicrosoftProject is in French and not everything translates into
English completely the same on it.
