Help with Fonts

I have a document created in MS Word 2002 version. When I am looking at the
font of this document some words have been highlighted as Arial pt 10 all
caps while other words which are also in capitals are only highlighted as
Arial pt 10. Any idea why only some of the words are highlighted differently?
Also any idea how we can avoid this from happening? Any help will be greatly
appreciated.

All Caps is a font property (like Bold or Italic); when it is removed, the
underlying text (in lowercase or Caps & lowercase) will be restored. If the
text has been typed in capitals (using CapsLock), then it actually *is* in
caps, and the format can be changed only by using Format | Change Case.

Thanks for your response Suzanne. The problem is with “Styles and
formatting.†I’ve typed an entire document in the same manner and there are
some words that are capitalized in the document.

When I click on Format > Styles and Formatting and then when I run the
cursor over the words in the document I see that some capitalized words are
shown as Arial, 10 pt as Formatting of selected text while some other
capitalized words as showing as ARIAL, 10 PT, CAPS. I am curious to know what
differentiates these words for the “Styles and formatting†to show them as 2
different styles. I ask this because a Macro that I run on this document
behaves differently for these 2 different styles. Any help will be greatly
appreciated.

The ones that show CAPS have the All Caps font property applied.

Thanks for the response, Suzanne. I find the formatting style to be different
for two capitalized texts in the same document. One showing Arial 10 pt while
the other ARIAL, 10 PT, CAPS. In fact, both the texts are capitalized (ALL
CAPS). Is this something related to the way these texts are capitalized? Any
help will be greatly appreciated.

As I explained, there is a difference between text that has been capitalized
by typing it with the CapsLock key on and text that has been typed as Caps
and lowercase and the All Caps property applied. The latter is the one that
will show CAPS.
