Help with Messenger

Someone please help me!

I have been unable to sign on to MSN Messenger for 3 days now, and I'm
in withdrawl! I am running v 5.1.1, and when I try to log on, I get a
message saying that I must download the newer version in order to run
Messenger. But when I try to click to download 6.0, I get a message
saying the browser can't find the server (download.microsoft.com). Any
ideas what to do?
