HELP with numbered lists

L

Lan

I have a lot of documents with numbered lists where I now need to insert
extra lines. When I do so, the new lines also have numbering. Is there ANY
way to prevent this?!?

Thanks!
Btw, I'm using MSWord 2003.

Lan

Doug has made one suggestion, another is to apply an un-numbered paragraph
style to the interim paragraphs. The choice will largely be determined by
whether you want space between the paragraphs.

Create yourself a numbered style where the first level has no number, and
the margins are set correctly for your document. The second level on down
have the numbering- it takes a bit to set up, but once done, is nice to use.
To insert extra lines, simply push "shift-enter" and you'll get an extra
line. To reset numbering, simply de-promote a line.

Numbering is a PIA in Word, plain and simple. The headstands one has to do
to bypass the marketing department "improvements" drive me nuts from time to
time. I hope that MS rethinks how this is done in the future.

Good luck.
