Help with Office 2007 Update!!

M

Michael Wolf

I recently updated my machine at work to Office 2007. It's a Dell Dimension
4500 running Windows XP Pro. I uninstalled Office 2003, and installed Office
2007. I don't know how else to describe the results - all my MS Office
products look as if they are using the graphics from Windows 95 or even
earlier. They do not show up in the same places on the tool bars or file
menus, and they look very basic. I have the same update running on 2 other
Dells, and they look fine. My colleague updated his Dell, same OS and all,
and it looks great, like all the others. The IT folks at my office are not
the sharpest, and cannot fix this problem. Has anyone ever seen or heard of
this before? help!!!!!

Hi Michael,

Folks have identified several causes for the color issues.

If you don't have dual monitors and this persists after restarting the PC you can try the following:

A. Change the the color choices in
Office File Button=>Word Option=>Popular
then restart Office.

B. Windows Control Panel, Display settings:
Color settings should be set higher than '256'.

C. Accessibility: Display High Contrast should be unchecked.

D. Toggle the Windows Theme and color schemes in Windows XP
to standard Windows XP Blue from a custom/'classic' setting.

E. Check the website for the manufacturer of your
graphics card to look for an updated driver.

F. System: Hardware=>Device Manager:
Display Driver - If SMS Remote Control Agent is present
disable it then restart your PC.

If this last one worked, please advise if you have installed
or use any sort of Remote 'help desk' or online collaboration capable software recently. It's not clear what enables that SMS
Agent.
