Office XP/2000 Add-in: Microsoft Visual Keyboard
The version of Word that I am running is 2002 (10.2627.3501) SP-1
so it would seem that I am eligible for the add-on.
However the installation has confused me:
Before you can use Visual Keyboard, you must first install any
additional language you want to use.
To install additional keyboard languages
On the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click ControlPanel.
Next, determine if the Text Services icon is present. (The icon
contains an image of a pencil, a keyboard, and a text balloon.)
If the Text Services icon is present, complete the following steps:
1. Double-click the Text Services icon, and then click the Settings
tab.
2. Under Installed Services, click Add.
3. In the Input Language box, click the language you want, and then
click OK.
The keyboard language you selected appears in the Installed
Services box.
4. If you want to be able to switch keyboard layouts by using the
Language bar, click Language Bar under Preferences, and then select the
Show the Language bar on the desktop check box.
If the Text Services icon is not present, complete the following steps:
[Thats me. I do not have the Text Services icon]
1. Double-click the Keyboard icon.
2. Do one of the following:
* If you are running Microsoft Windows® 98 or Microsoft
Windows Millennium Edition, click the Language tab.
* If you are running Microsoft Windows NT® 4.0 or Microsoft
Windows 2000, click the Input Locales tab.
3. Click Add, and then do one of the following:
* If you are running Windows 98 or Windows Millennium
Edition, click the language you want in the Language list, and then
click OK.
* If you are running Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 2000, click
the language you want in the Input Locales list, and then click OK.
4. Repeat step 3 for each language you want to add.
5. If you want to be able to switch keyboard layouts by using the
Windows taskbar, make sure that Enable indicatoron taskbar is selected.
Whoa! When I click on the keyboard icon I have two tabs: Spped and
Hardware!
The closest I could come to this s the icon labled Regional and
Language Options. There are three tabs:Regionnl Options, Languages and
Advanced.
On the language tab, it claims the languages are already installed.
But the Visual Keyboard doesn't see them?
What has to be done to get this feature to work?
Thanks,
IanO
