Help with Old Q&A Application

So sorry if this is entirely off or nearly off topic.

A friend said the application that would be of most use to me is one made by
Symantec some years ago called Q&A.

Not sure if this a database type of application and whether today the
nearest to it would be Access or Excel.

Any help much appreciated as I have tried Googling but no real answers.

Q&A was a "flat file" Database program as opposed to a full "relational" type
like Access.

Don't know if they even produce it anymore. I still have a copy that runs
under DOS but have never tried under Windows. Would most likely run in
"compatibility" mode.

Access will do all that Q&A could do and then some.

Excel would be somewhat simalar to Q&A probably.

What do you want to do? Perhaps if we knew, help could be given.

Jim, good suggestion for someone who wants to enter questions and
answers - but you may not be old enough to have seen a program *NAMED*
"Q&A". As noted elsethread, it was (maybe still is) a DOS-based
flat-file text "database" program, good for its day and easy to use
but rather limited.

Hi Gord

I run a company where we need to keep contact details and requirements of
those who contact us - like real estate but not quite as we sell businesses.
At any one time we have several thousands of cards for these people. The
cards are sorted each month to remove the oldest months cards.

The details kept on the cards include, name, address, various telephone
numbers, possible email address and requirements which can include price
parameters, location, type of business, tenure of business and a number of
other bits of information.

Using cards seems so old fashioned but bespoken real estate software is so
expensive and really aimed at the homes market. A good friend, who has used
Q&A, said it would be perfect for sorting through quickly to get a short
list of the right types of customers when we had a new business for sale.
Hence my posting.

I am familiar with Excel but not other than very simple tasks. Access is not
something I have tried but have on disc as it came with one of my computers.
However I am keen on keeping as simple as possible not using a heavyweight
application where a lightweight one would suffice.

PS I wonder if your copy would run on the later operating systems?
