Help with Outlook Email and Registry file

Hi there,

I wanted to know how to minimuze Outlook 2003 on XP Pro and went to the
internet.

I found the following article and did what it said. Now I have the
occasional proble with my sent emails hanging in the in box. Also seems that
they are slow to send when they do send.

Open up notepad and copy the appropriate text for your version of office.
Save the text file and rename it to for example "XP_OutlookToTray.reg". Then
merge it into the registry by double clicking it. To undo this, simply change
the value to zero.

For Office 2003:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Preferences]
"MinToTray"=dword:00000001

Can anyone suggest how to get rind of the file? I tried searching for
"Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 " in my registry but couldnt find
anything.

So what happens when you click the minimize button ("_") at the right
end of the titlebar in Outlook? It doesn't minimize to a button in
the Windows taskbar?
I found the following article

And where is this article?

Changing minimize behavior has no effect on the function of Outlook.
You have other causes for hanging e-mails, like you enabled e-mail
scanning in your anti-virus software.
Open up notepad and copy the appropriate text for your version of
office.
Save the text file and rename it to for example
"XP_OutlookToTray.reg". Then
merge it into the registry by double clicking it. To undo this,
simply change
the value to zero.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Preferences]

Oh, so what you really do is not to minimize the window but instead
close it and display an icon in the system notification area (aka tray
area). I know that I need the registry entry for Outlook 2002 but
thought minimize to tray icon was an option in Outlook 2003/2007 (so
you are doing the registry change that the option takes care of).
Can anyone suggest how to get rind of the file?

What file? The .reg file that YOU created using Notepad? So what
happens when you attempt to delete the file?
I tried searching for
"Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 " in my registry but couldnt
find
anything.

That is not a file. That is line *inside* the .reg file that you just
created using Notepad. It is a title (info) line to identify the
version of regedit used to supposedly export a registry key (but you
are pretending to do the export by writing the .reg file yourself to
then import it).

So WHAT is the unidentified problem that you want solved? To minimize
Outlook to a tray icon? Well, did you run the .reg file to update the
registry (or look for the option in Outlook)? To delete the .reg
file? That you don't understand the content of the .reg file? WHAT?

Click the MInimize button in the upper right corner of the Outlook window.
If you want it to minimize to the Notification Area of the system tray,
right-click the Outlook icon in the Notification Area and choose "Hide When
Minimized". Don't mess with the registry.
